Fit & Sizing

My Performance Skins feel too tight or are causing toe pressure — what should I do? +

If the pair feels tight, restrictive, or you're experiencing toe pressure, this typically means the size may be slightly too small. Moving up one size usually resolves this and allows the Performance Skins to function as designed.

We're happy to set up a size exchange — just reach out and we'll take care of it. If you'd prefer a return instead, we'll send over instructions right away.

Start an Exchange or contact us for a personal sizing recommendation.

💡 Check our size chart for guidance. Also note that Dark Grey, Hot Coral, and Blue colorways have a naturally snugger feel than Light Grey.
My Performance Skins feel too loose or shift during movement — any advice? +

If the pair feels loose, shifts during movement, or doesn't feel secure, this typically means the size may be slightly too large. Moving down one size usually solves the issue.

We'd love to get you into the perfect fit — a size exchange is easy to set up. Or if you prefer a return, just let us know.

If you're already in the smallest size and can't size down, many of our customers wear a thin sock underneath and get the same grip, stability, and performance — toeless to maintain natural toe splay, or a thin full sock based on personal preference. Either way, it's a great way to fine-tune the fit.

Start an Exchange or contact us for a personal sizing recommendation.

💡 Check our size chart for guidance. If you ordered Light Grey and find it runs loose, trying Dark Grey, Hot Coral, or Blue may give you a snugger fit naturally.
I have narrower feet — will the Performance Skins fit me well? +

Many customers with narrower feet find that wearing thin socks (toeless or individual-toe styles) helps create a snugger, more secure fit — while still maintaining all the grip, stability, and performance the shoes are designed for.

Not sure which size or color to go with? Contact us and we'll give you a personal recommendation.

💡 Dark Grey, Hot Coral, and Blue colorways fit slightly tighter than Light Grey — a great option if fit is a concern.
How do I figure out my correct size before ordering? +

Start with your regular shoe size. If you're between sizes or have narrower feet, we generally suggest going up half a size and using thin socks to fine-tune the fit.

Check our size chart for reference, or contact us and we'll give you a personal recommendation.

Durability & Performance

How long do Barreletics Performance Skins last? +

We take great pride in manufacturing our products in the USA. Many of our customers report using their Performance Skins for years — some have worn the same pair about six days a week for over three years without issues.

While we can't guarantee a specific lifespan since it depends on individual care and use, we believe they offer excellent long-term value compared to standard socks that require frequent replacement.

💡 Pro tip: When putting them on, pull from the top of the foot — not the straps — to avoid extra stress on the material and extend their longevity.
How do I clean my Barreletics? +

After your workout.

When wiping down your equipment after class, use the same wipe to give your Barreletics a quick wipe down too. It takes seconds and keeps them fresh between washes.

Regular cleaning.

Wash with warm soapy water — that's all they need. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry. No machine washing required.

💡 The simpler the better — Barreletics are low maintenance by design.
Will Barreletics grip on carpet, studio floors, and wet surfaces? +

On typical studio surfaces — exceptional grip.

Barreletics are specifically engineered for the surfaces you train on — hardwood floors, rubber flooring, vinyl, carpet, Reformer carriages, Megaformers, and yoga mats. On these surfaces they grip exceptionally well, which is exactly what they're designed for.

On inherently slippery surfaces — no footwear wins.

Some surfaces — wet polished marble, certain wet tiles, oiled or waxed floors — are inherently slippery for everyone, including bare feet. No footwear can fully overcome a surface that offers no traction to begin with. Barreletics will still outperform bare feet in most cases, but common sense always applies.

Always exercise caution on surfaces that are typically slippery for bare feet — no footwear changes the fundamental nature of the surface beneath you.
Can I wear Performance Skins outdoors, at the beach, or in the water? +

Barreletics hug your feet like a second skin, giving you the confidence to move naturally over rocky shorelines, hot sand, and uneven surfaces — without the bulk of shoes or the unpredictability of flip flops.

In a flip flop your foot slides forward, the thong pulls between your toes, and on uneven terrain or a wet boat deck your footing becomes unpredictable. In a heavy shoe or water shoe, you lose the feel of the surface entirely.

Barreletics give you grip, feel, and stability — without the bulk, the slip, or the bog.

Designed to feel like nothing — in the best way.

The open-toe design lets your toes spread naturally, giving you better balance, better grip, and a more connected feel underfoot. When your toes can move freely, your whole foot engages — and that makes a real difference when you're navigating uneven surfaces, climbing rocks, or finding your footing on a moving boat deck.

The fit is snug enough that your foot never shifts or lifts, giving you the security of a shoe with the freedom of going barefoot.

A barrier where it matters.

Think hot sand that burns the moment you step off your towel. Sun-baked pavement between the car and the water. Pebbly lake beds and shell-covered shorelines. The sole creates just enough separation to keep you comfortable — without losing that ground feel you don't get in a shoe.

Members of our team have worn them for years on the beach and feel far more confident with that layer underfoot than without it.

Better than barefoot on wet terrain.

Climbing on rocks at the ocean's edge. Navigating a slippery boat deck. Stepping across tidal pools. Traditional shoes lift your foot away from the surface and reduce feel — often making wet terrain harder, not easier. Barreletics keep you close to the ground where your balance lives.

They're also a great alternative to water shoes — far less bulky, far more versatile, and they don't trap sand or water inside.

Great for:

Beach workouts & beach volleyball
Paddleboarding & boating
Climbing rocks & navigating tidal pools
Outdoor & poolside yoga
Rocky shorelines & shell-covered beaches
Pool decks & water parks
Spa visits
Hot sand & sun-baked pavement
Anywhere you'd go barefoot — but better

They're not designed to replace heavy-duty footwear in extreme conditions — they're built for the realm of nature most of us actually move through.

While Barreletics provide added grip compared to bare feet, some wet surfaces — including certain spa, pool, and tile areas — are inherently slippery for any footwear. Always exercise caution when entering wet or slippery areas regardless of what you're wearing.
Do I have to wear them barefoot or can I wear socks? +

Completely up to you.

Barreletics are designed to work beautifully either way, and how you wear them comes down to personal preference.

Barefoot or with a sock — both work.

Many customers love the barefoot feel — the direct connection to the surface is a big part of what makes them so effective for balance and stability work. But plenty of athletes, instructors, and practitioners prefer wearing a thin toeless or individual-toe sock underneath, whether for extra warmth, a preference for fabric against their skin, or simply because it feels right to them.

One thing to avoid.

Both are completely valid. The grip, stability, and performance are there either way — a thin sock doesn't take that away. The one thing we'd suggest skipping is a thick or full-toe sock, as it can reduce the natural toe splay that makes Barreletics so effective.

💡 Not sure which works for you? Try them barefoot first — most customers find they never look back. But if you prefer coverage, a thin toeless sock is the perfect companion.
Cool on your feet — will Barreletics make my feet hot or sweaty? +

Surprisingly breathable.

Actually, most customers find the opposite — Barreletics are surprisingly cool and breathable. Unlike a shoe or a grip sock that wraps your entire foot in fabric, the open-toe design and lightweight material allow air to circulate freely. Your foot stays ventilated in a way that's simply not possible in traditional footwear.

Sweat-resistant by design.

The material is sweat-resistant, so your feet won't warm up inside Barreletics the way they do in a shoe or sock.

Hot yoga — a little different.

All that extra sweat rolling down your legs does end up at your feet. A thin full sock works like a towel on a yoga mat, helping absorb the extra moisture. It won't affect the grip or performance — just keeps things comfortable when the heat is really on.

Prefer a layer? No problem.

A thin full sock also works well for studios that prefer covered feet, or if you simply prefer your toes covered. Either way — toeless or full thin sock — the grip, stability, and performance are still there.

💡 Think of the thin sock as optional fine-tuning, not a requirement. Most customers go barefoot and never look back.

Beyond Grip Socks

Why are Barreletics better than grip socks? +

Grip socks are designed around compliance. Barreletics are engineered for performance. The difference shows up the moment you start moving.

Grip socks have silicone or latex dots printed onto fabric — they compress, bunch, and lose traction as you move. Barreletics have full-bottom coverage built into a structured sole that moves with your foot. Locked-in stability through holds, transitions, and balance work. No sliding. No resets.

Antimicrobial & sweat-resistant — stays fresh through intense sessions
Latex- and silicone-free — no irritants, no dot grip that wears out
Natural toe splay — lets your toes spread naturally for better balance and control
Second-skin fit — ultra-light, flexible, and durable. No stretching out, no replacing every few months
💡 One pair. No more socks.
My studio requires socks — can I still wear Barreletics? +

Absolutely — and most studios love Barreletics. For the rare studio that requires a sock, simply wear a thin individual-toe sock or a thin full sock underneath. You stay compliant while still getting the grip, stability, and barefoot control that no grip sock can match on its own.

The difference is immediately noticeable. Grip socks slide, bunch, and put a layer of loose fabric between your foot and the surface. Barreletics fit like a second skin — the grip is built into the sole — so even with a thin sock underneath, you're getting far more stability and control than a grip sock alone.

💡 Many studios are happy to allow Barreletics once they see them — they look and function more like a shoe than a sock, and a lot of instructors already wear them.
Are Barreletics more hygienic than grip socks? +

Yes — significantly. Barreletics are made from an antimicrobial, sweat-resistant material that doesn't hold onto moisture or bacteria the way fabric does.

Fabric grip socks absorb sweat and trap bacteria against your foot with every workout — Barreletics don't
Latex- and silicone-free, leaving no residue on shared equipment like Reformers and Megaformers

Many studio instructors wear Barreletics daily for exactly this reason — cleaner, more durable, and far more hygienic than cycling through grip socks.

💡 Think about it — a sock that absorbs sweat session after session is holding onto far more than you'd like. Barreletics don't.
What workouts are Barreletics designed for? +

Built for the studio.

Barreletics Performance Skins are purpose-built for studio training — Barre, Pilates, Lagree, Reformer, and Yoga. Every design decision, from the full-bottom sole to the natural toe splay, is made with these disciplines in mind.

Open Sole & Closed Sole — 360° Grip.

Barreletics come in both an Open Sole and Closed Sole design — both deliver 360° full-bottom traction coverage so whether you're on a Reformer carriage, a Megaformer, a studio floor, or a mat, you have unbeatable grip under every part of your foot. In Barre and Pilates, this matters more than you might think — when you're in flat back chair or side plank, the sides and edges of your foot are just as important as the bottom. That's where 360° grip changes everything.

Closed Sole — beyond the studio.

The Closed Sole also doubles as our outdoor and water shoe, built to handle the beach, water, and everything in between.

Are Barreletics only for studio workouts? +

Not at all — Barreletics work beautifully across a wide range of activities wherever barefoot feel, grip, and natural movement matter. Many of our customers use them far beyond the studio.

Weight lifting — better ground connection and stability than training shoes
Outdoor volleyball — grip on sand and grass without the bulk of shoes
Martial arts — Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Karate, and other disciplines where barefoot feel and floor connection are essential
Barefoot running — natural gait with a protective layer underfoot
Boating and poolside — grip where bare feet slip and shoes feel too heavy
Beach and hot surfaces — protection from hot sand and rough terrain without losing ground feel
Rock climbing for barefoot enthusiasts — stays connected to the surface while protecting your foot
💡 Anywhere you'd normally go barefoot — Barreletics just make it better.
While Barreletics provide added grip compared to bare feet, some surfaces — including certain wet, smooth, or polished floors — are inherently slippery for any footwear. Always exercise caution on surfaces that are typically slippery regardless of what you're wearing.
Can I wear a thin sock underneath if I prefer? +

Absolutely — some customers prefer a thin toeless or individual-toe sock underneath for extra warmth or moisture control, and that works great. You'll still get grip, stability, and barefoot control that far exceeds anything a grip sock alone can deliver.

Just skip the thick or full-toe socks — they reduce the natural toe splay that makes Barreletics so effective for balance and control work. The barefoot feel is where they truly shine.

Returns & Exchanges

How do I start a return? +

Visit our returns portal to start a return or exchange. Follow the prompts to select Refund or Exchange. Returns must be initiated within 30 days of delivery.

Can I exchange for a different size instead of returning? +

Yes — and we encourage it! Size exchanges are easy to arrange and often the fastest way to get the perfect fit. We ship your exchange at no cost to you once we receive and inspect your return.

Is there a warranty on my purchase? +

Yes — all purchases are covered by our 90-day warranty against manufacturing defects. If you experience an issue within 90 days of delivery, reach out and we'll take care of it. Return of the defective item is not required.

International orders: The same 90-day coverage applies — just send us photo proof within 90 days and we'll get a replacement out to you. Heads up that shipping costs and any duties or customs fees on the replacement are the customer's responsibility, though we'll do our best to keep those to a minimum.
