Barreletics in INTERNI: Where Performance, Design and Fashion Meet
There are moments when a product stops being viewed simply for what it does and begins to be recognized for the idea behind it.
For Barreletics, this is one of those moments.
In its July–August 2026 issue, INTERNI explores how designers are reconsidering one of the most complex—and often overlooked—parts of the body: the foot. The feature, Sano come un piede (“Healthy as a Foot”), looks at a new generation of products designed around movement, sensory connection and freedom.

A different answer to the grip-sock problem
INTERNI describes a wider movement toward footwear that interferes less with the natural function of the foot. Some designers focus on sensory stimulation. Others strip footwear back to the minimum structure necessary. Barreletics takes a different approach.
Founder Stefanie Miller created Performance Skins around a precise gap in the market: disciplines including yoga, barre, Pilates, Reformer and Lagree require a foot that is both stable and sensitive. A grip sock can shift and lose traction; a sneaker can restrict the movement and floor connection these practices depend on.
Not a sock. Not a sneaker. A new category.
The article describes the Performance Skin Grippy Shoe as a reticular, injection-molded structure made in a single polymer free of latex and silicone, wrapping the foot while leaving the toes completely free.
More importantly, INTERNI positions Barreletics as a new design category—one created in response to a specific movement need rather than by adapting an existing form.
We did not set out to make a better grip sock. We set out to rethink what belongs between the foot and the floor.
From the studio to the fashion world
INTERNI connects that design philosophy to another significant moment for Barreletics: Coperni’s Spring–Summer 2026 collection.
Founders Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant included an exclusive version of the Barreletics Grippy Shoe in the collection. For INTERNI, that crossover shows how an innovation created for performance can move into the visual culture of fashion without losing the idea that made it useful in the first place.
